2019 Wild Mushroom Forays

We will be teaching the basics of wild mushroom identification, sustainable foraging practices, where you can legally forage, and the importance of mushrooms in the forest ecosystem. Each foraging walk will cover both edible and medicinal mushrooms currently in season.

Feel free to bring the whole family, put the baby in a carrier and join us, but please leave your dogs at home unless it is an assistance dog. Hope to see you there!

Each foray will be at the same location and time. Walks are from 10 am to 1 pm - rain or shine! Dress for the weather and ticks (hat, close-toed shoes, socks, long pants). Bring water, a cloth bag, and a knife for harvesting mushrooms.

The forays will take place on crown land where it is legal to forage. The area is located next to Killaloe, Hagarty, & Richards Township. It is about two hours from Ottawa, Arnprior, Huntsville, Bancroft, and Peterborough, but less than an hour from Maynooth, Pembroke, Petawawa, and Renfrew.
